SUNBucks Banner for 2026 benefits

Families may be eligible for extra grocery support this summer through SUN Bucks, also known as Summer EBT.

This program provides $120 per eligible child to help cover food costs while school is out.

Some students will receive SUN Bucks automatically. However, not all students are automatically enrolled, even though meals are free at school. Families who are not automatically eligible may still qualify by submitting a Universal Benefits Application or School Meal Application through their child’s school.

Children may qualify if they:

  • Receive CalFresh, CalWORKs, or Medi-Cal
(at or below 185% of the federal poverty level)

  • Are experiencing homelessness, in foster care, or part of a migrant family

  • Have an approved school meal or benefits application on file

Families who need to apply must do so by August 31, 2026.

Families can also contact their child’s school for assistance or call the SUN Bucks Helpline at:

Taking a few minutes to check eligibility or apply could help support your family with groceries this summer.
